Dr. Weinstein was born and raised in Montreal, Canada and attended McGill University where she studied Microbiology and Immunology. She moved to Miami to pursue a Masters in biomedical sciences and later attended medical school at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. During her time there she became interested in ophthalmology and was awarded a Research to Prevent Blindness Medical Student Fellowship to study mitochondrial dynamics in the role of retinal ganglion cell axon growth and regeneration in Jeffrey Goldberg’s lab. She completed her internship in internal medicine at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh and then moved to New Orleans to complete Ophthalmology residency at Louisiana State University. Throughout residency Dr. Weinstein was involved in numerous research projects and was awarded the James Hill Award for Excellence in Ophthalmology research. In her final year, Dr. Weinstein was appointed to the leadership role of Chief Resident. She is very excited to complete her uveitis training at the University of Washington where there is a harmonious balance
between diverse clinical exposure and ample opportunity for research. In her free time, Dr. Weinstein enjoys spending time with her partner Krystal and her puppy Finley.
