Dr. Rudell grew up in California with her parents, twin sister and younger sister, and attended college at Stanford University where she studied biology and neuroscience. Prior to medical school, she spent a year working with Nobel laureate David Baltimore, where she grew to love research, specifically in neurodevelopment and synaptic plasticity. She attended medical school at University of California Davis in the combined M.D./Ph.D. program, earning her Ph.D. in neuroscience. It was in medical school where she learned that ophthalmology was where science and medicine intersect. She completed her ophthalmology residency at University of California Davis. In her free time, Dr. Rudell enjoys ballet, playing the piano, snowboarding, and playing with her two children.
