About
Nora Silverman MD, PhD was born and raised in NYC. She was graduated cum laude from Skidmore College with concentrations in Neuroscience and French Literature, and worked for a year after graduation at the Institut National de la Sante et Recherche Medicale (INSERM) in Paris. She went on to complete a combined MD/PhD program at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in New York, followed by a residency in Ophthalmology at the same institution. She has recently begun a 2‐ year Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle. Dr. Silverman has presented her research annually at national Neuroscience and Ophthalmology meetings over the last ten years, and has authored/co‐authored over 30 abstracts and peer‐reviewed publications. She has received several honors including
Outstanding Ophthalmology Resident for Graduate Medical Education, Intern of the Year at Mt Sinai/St. Lukeʼs/Roosevelt Hospital in NYC, the American Psychological Association Early Career Award, and the Women in Sex/Gender Junior Investigator Award. In her (somewhat limited!) free time, Dr. Silverman enjoys running, skiing, cooking, and international travel.
