Biography

Dr. Taravati was born in Arlington, Texas, and raised in Ames, Iowa. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa. She also completed her medical degree at the University of Iowa. She continued at the University of Iowa, completing her internal medicine internship and her residency in ophthalmology.

Dr. Taravati has been on the faculty at the University of Washington since 2009. She is the residency program director. She lives in Seattle, Washington, with her husband and two children. Her pastimes include playing piano, cooking, and reading.

Dr. Taravati is a clinician educator and comprehensive ophthalmologist.  She manages a wide range of eye conditions, including dry eye, blepharitis, cataracts, glaucoma, and color blindness.

Research focus

Dr. Taravati’s research interests include color blindness, resident education, and cataracts.
