Dr. Daniel F. Martin is the 2014 recipient of the Roger H Johnson Macular Degeneration Award. The late Dr. Johnson endowed this cash award, which is given every other year through the Department of Ophthalmology, University of Washington, to stimulate clinical and basic science research related to the pathogenesis or treatment of age related macular degeneration (AMD).
Dr. Martin’s contributions to the treatment of AMD through the CATT trial and other work has been a major milestone in the management of this disease. The award carries a cash prize, which may be awarded to the awardee’s institution to support his/her academic pursuits, or to the recipient directly. Dr. Martin is the guest speaker at the annual Resident Alumni Day on June 7, 2014, and will give a talk on "The Comparison of AMD Treatments Trials (CATT)."
