Dr. Nathe was born and raised in Yakima, Washington. He moved to Seattle to complete his undergraduate education at the University of Washington, where he studied neurobiology and graduated as the sixth Husky in his family (his little sister later becoming the seventh). He next moved to sunny southern California to continue his medical education at UC Irvine School of Medicine. There he found his love for ophthalmology – a field that marries his deep curiosity for the brain and its extensions with his desire to effect real change in the quality of life of his patients. He has since eagerly returned home to the beautiful Pacific Northwest for his internship at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle before coming full circle to begin his ophthalmology training in earnest at his alma mater – the University of Washington. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer, reading, discovering new music and shamelessly dancing to it, hanging out with friends, playing in the mountains on a snowboard or in hiking boots, and maintaining his status as favorite uncle to five nieces and nephews.
