Dr. Meirick grew up in the small town of Protivin, Iowa (population 280). He attended the University of Iowa for his undergraduate studies, where he graduated with distinction and majors in Economics and Biochemistry. He stayed in Iowa City after graduation, earning his MD from the Carver College of Medicine. Dr. Meirick was first exposed to ophthalmology during medical school, and quickly developed a passion for the field. He completed his internship at Presence Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago, IL, and is excited to start his ophthalmology residency in the beautiful PNW. In his free time, he enjoys playing and watching many different types of sports, running, exploring the city, traveling, watching movies, and playing board games.
