Dr. Angel was born and raised in Tennessee. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, where she also completed her optometric degree. After completing her residency in Ocular Disease at the Omni Eye Services of Memphis, she went on to become the clinical director of Omni Eye Services and the Director of Refractive Services at TLC Laser Eye Centers. Prior to joining UW Medicine as a teaching associate in 2012, Dr. Angel had been in private practice for 15 years, primarily in the Seattle area. Her clinical focus is on corneal disease.

Dr. Angel is the Goodwill Ambassador for Sightlife Corneal Eye Bank and has helped build infrastructure for corneal eyebanking around India. She is on the board for the Seattle Symphony Orchestra and active with the Henry Art Gallery and YouthCare.
Dr. Angel lives in Seattle, Washington. In her free time she enjoys yoga and keeping physically fit. She has recently learned how to ski and is taking on more Pacific Northwest activities such as hiking and biking.
