Susan Whitford

Susan was born and raised in Tacoma; she and her husband currently live in Port Orchard, Washington.  She graduated with a B.S. in Mathematics from Western Washington University, and received her MBA in Technology and Engineering Management from City University of Seattle. Susan managed IT departments for most of her career and most recently was the Director of Technology and Facilities at Kitsap Regional Library with additional oversight for risk management and the capital budget. Susan retired in 2017 and continues consulting as a project manager.

Susan is the oldest of seven children and has always been focused on philanthropy. As a little girl, she organized carnivals in the family back yard to support Muscular Dystrophy. She was also on the leadership team for a church capital campaign. Susan currently serves on two non-profit boards, including Violet Sees, a Seattle nonprofit created in honor of her granddaughter. Susan and her daughter, Jen Anderson, formed Violet Sees in 2015 to help eliminate preventable blindness. Violet Sees provides funding for children’s glasses for families needing financial support, promotion and funding for early vision screening, and research grants in pediatric ophthalmology.
