Biography
Dr. Bonnell was born and raised in Princeton, NJ. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA, with a Bachelor of Arts in Health and Societies: Public Health. After graduation, Dr. Bonnell moved to Seattle, WA, where she enjoyed working with clay and glaze as a ceramic artist before attending medical school at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ.
As a medical student, Dr. Bonnell’s interest in ophthalmology and vitreoretinal surgery grew under the mentorship of Jonathan Prenner, MD, at NJRetina in New Brunswick, NJ. She returned to the Pacific Northwest for her ophthalmology residency and fellowship training at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. In her free time, Dr. Bonnell enjoys exploring Seattle’s coffee shops and restaurants, going to spin classes with friends, and spending time in the mountains with her husband and their two dogs.

Clinical Interests
Dr. Bonnell’s clinical interests include vitreoretinal surgery, adult and pediatric intraocular tumors, intraocular lymphoma, diabetic retinopathy, and ocular trauma.
Research Interests
Dr. Bonnell’s research interests include early detection and treatment of uveal melanoma. She is a co-investigator with the Global Retinoblastoma Study Group at the Seattle Children’s Hospital.
