Biography

Pul was born and raised in South Korea and moved to the United States with the initial goal of becoming a criminal psychologist. While majoring in psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, she joined a neuroscience research lab, where she developed a strong interest in research.

This experience inspired her to pursue an MD/PhD, with the goal of engaging in clinical research and translating scientific findings into improved patient care. For her PhD, Pul studied the visual cortex and through this work, she developed a deeper appreciation for the visual system, which ultimately led her to pursue a career in ophthalmology.

In her free time, Pul enjoys exploring local cafés in search of the perfect espresso, running, and stress-baking. She also values spending time outdoors with her dog and practicing yoga.
