Nathan Agi, MD, has joined the faculty as an acting assistant professor. He will see patients at the Eye Institute, Karalis Johnson Retina Center, and 4-West.

Dr. Agi was born and raised in Los Angeles, and graduated summa cum laude from Yeshiva University. He earned his medical degree from Stony Brook University School of Medicine in New York and completed his ophthalmology residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, where he was recognized for clinical excellence. He then pursued subspecialty training in vitreoretinal surgery at the UW.
Dr. Agi is committed to advancing the care of patients with retinal disease and is passionate about optimizing visual outcomes through individualized treatment. In addition to his clinical practice, he enjoys cooking, gardening, chess, gymnastics, and spending time with his wife and children.
Alexandra "Alexa" Van Brummen, MD, has joined the faculty as an acting assistant professor. She will see patients at the Eye Institute and Seattle Children's.

Dr. Van Brummen was raised in Jakarta, Indonesia until she was five years old, and spent the remainder of her childhood in Houston, Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with degrees in Honors Biology and Anthropology and a minor in French. Afterwards, she attended medical school at the McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. It was there that she became interested in oculofacial trauma and orbital surgery. This was further affirmed during her residency at the UW, working trauma cases at Harborview Medical Center. She found additional passion working in pediatrics, and ultimately decided to pursue a Pediatric Ophthalmology Fellowship, followed by an American Society of Ophthalmic and Plastic Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) fellowship at UW.
Her patient care philosophy is a simple one: "I have always followed the principle taught to me on my first day of medical school: 'Every patient, Every time'. I believe that every patient should receive quality and compassionate care, without fail, every time."
