Pranav Narsipur is an undergraduate pursuing Computer Science in the Paul G. Allen School and working part-time as a Research Assistant for the UW School of Medicine's Computational Ophthalmology Lab. He originally joined the Lee Lab in March 2025 as a volunteer, evaluating alternative eye tracking systems. Interested in image segmentation and eye tracking, Pranav is excited to learn new applications in machine learning and computer vision in ophthalmology. Before joining the lab, Pranav completed two research projects in high school. His work using machine learning and voice analysis features to predict Parkinson’s disease progression was published in the Journal of Emerging Investigators in August 2025. In the same journal, he published a second manuscript in February 2026 exploring computer vision techniques to quantify exotropia severity.
The UW Medical AI & Data Science Journal Club, led by Acting Assistant Professor, Yue Wu, Department of Ophthalmology, provides an opportunity to exchange ideas, ask questions, and critique scientific methods related to artificial intelligence and big data that support our collective goal of creating better health.
We currently meet on 2nd Mondays, 1-2pm Pacific Time in person and via zoom.
At each meeting, the presenter provides an overview of a paper they selected, providing their thoughts and interpretation, and then the presentation is followed by questions and discussion among participants.
