
Residents and fellows were honored at the annual Department of Ophthalmology graduation dinner, which was held June 13 at the Women’s University Club in Seattle.
The graduation event honored fellows Fatma Dihowm, MD (Uveitis), Catherine Culp. MD (Pediatrics) and Brian Nguyen, DO (Glaucoma).
The graduating fourth-year residents are Grant Howell, MD, Marc Toral, MD, PhD, Amanda Hoyer, MD and Cameron Ward, MD.
These residents matched into the following fellowships: Amanda Hoyer, MD—Pediatrics, Northwestern Lurie; Grant Howell, MD—Neuro-ophthalmology, Moran Eye Center, Salt Lake City; Marcus Toral, MD, PhD—Uveitis, Oregon Health Sciences University; Cameron Ward, MD—Medical Retina, National Eye Institute
Dany Hage, MD, a third-year resident, received the Resident Research Award for her presentation "The Effect of GLP-1 Receptor Agonists on OCT-RNFL Progression in Glaucoma.”
Assistant Professor Minh Nguyen, MD, was honored as the faculty teacher of the year. Erin Seefeldt, MD was honored as the volunteer teacher of the year. Soni Williams, ophthalmic technician lead, was honored as the staff person of the year. The graduating residents choose these recipients. Second-year resident Emma Stenz, MD, received the OKAPi Award for earning the highest percentile score on the OKAP in-service exam. Alina Ferguson was honored as the Medical Student of the Year.
